GOMYCODE Nigeria and GOMYCODE Ivory Coast will launch for the first time their Summer Academy, on August 2. The first session of the Summer Academy began this summer on 28 June in our several hackerspaces, the second one will take place also on August 2.
The Summer Academy is an intensive 4-week project-oriented summer program for high school and college students and also for employees who need to improve their skills. The program offers a variety of different courses according to your needs: A course in web development, video game development, Data Science, Design, Digital Marketing, and a course specifically for Kids.
Who is the program for?
The Summer Academy is intended for high school and college students who are passionate about digital skills and who want to take advantage of their summer to learn new technologies. This program is also made for employees who need to improve their skills.
The program
The first edition of the Summer Academy in GOMYCODE Nigeria and GOMYCODE Ivory Coast will start on 02/08/2021.
Classes will take place from Monday to Friday, 4 hours a day. Two-time slots are available: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Which Track suits you better?
There are six training programs available in this Summer Academy:
Web development:
You will learn how to create your own website and put it online using many technologies such as CSS, JS, Express, HTML, Node js, React, Redux, or even Bootstrap. This course has about 3 levels which will be based consecutively on the fundamentals of web development, advanced concepts in the front-end and the back-end.
Video Games Development:
You will discover the basics of video game development with Unity and C # which allow students to develop a mobile game. This course also has 3 levels where you can learn to create 2D and 3D video games.
Data:
You will learn how to build your own artificial intelligence and how to master Python.
In this 2-level course, you'll learn the basics of artificial intelligence, machine learning algorithms as well as data visualization, interpretation, and preparation techniques which will allow you to create your own predictive analysis model and your artificial intelligence with Python and its libraries.
Design:
You'll discover and manipulate UX design tools, perform a good UX design study and create your first user interface. This will allow you to acquire the knowledge and tools necessary to understand the different principles of user experience design. You will learn how to carry out a good UX study, how to use the different types of processes in order to conceptualize a final product from a user-centric perspective.
Digital marketing:
During this track, you'll master the tools and skills needed to start a career in digital marketing. You will learn how to manage your social networks, launch advertising campaigns, optimize SEO and conversion rates and use Google Analytics...
Kids Program:
This track is specifically designed for children. You'll create your video game with Scratch and your android application with App Inventor. The "Kids" program is exclusively created for children passionate about computers, new technologies, or robotics. It is designed to allow children to learn the skills necessary to create their technological application while having fun and interacting with members of their group.
Our Learning Method
Our students have access to an online course platform. They can follow the courses on this platform and validate all the mini-projects of a module in order to be able to move on to the next module.
They are personally assisted by our instructors (developers who have mastered the courses and projects) who help them in case of any difficulties and guide them in the learning process.
Each instructor has a limited number of students under his care as this encourages tailored support. Their job is not to give students spoon-fed information, but to help them find where to look for information and how to use it. It is a learning method based on self-learning.
Create Your Own Technology
GOMYCODE's learning experience is unique. During these 4 weeks, you will develop technical programming skills as well as communication skills, collaborative work, and critical thinking skills by joining a community of enthusiasts like you.
But more importantly, by the end of the program, you will have fully developed your own technology products. It's not just about learning a few lines of code, it's about completing a whole project and being able to be proud of it. Better yet, you will have the opportunity to present your product during Demo Day.
During Demo Day, the students, who are proud of their projects, present their work to our jury and visitors in the form of a “Science Fair”. Of course, we don’t forget to celebrate and have fun with music, dancing, and games while waiting for the jury to announce the winning projects, distribute the certificates and also take several pictures as souvenirs.
A Covid Safe places
At GOMYCODE, we attach the utmost importance to the health of our students. This is why we have established very strict rules:
1- Each student or instructor who presents symptoms must stay at home failing to present a negative test.
2- Each student can take the online courses until the health situation improves.
3- Wearing a mask throughout the space is obliged.
4- Each group of students has its own space.
5- Disinfectant gel is always available to all students.
In addition, the entire GOMYCODE team, whose work can be done remotely, is already teleworking.
This method has enabled us so far to avoid any group contamination, proof of our vigilance and our seriousness in the application of these rules.
